Neck Injury

More than 42,000 people per year on Britain's roads end up with whiplash, a nasty Neck Injury, through accidents; while people at work lifting heavy weights and pushing machinery around are also prone to contracting a neck injury. Claims for neck injuries are often quite high depending on the severity as there can be ongoing problems and financial losses through not working.

Motor insurance companies receive numerous claims every day for whiplash injuries caused by the people they insure and if a doctor reports that the neck is indeed damaged then the grounds for a claim against the driver and insurance company are good. If you damaged your neck while lifting at work it will be harder to win a claim as you have to prove you had the right lifting technique and were acting responsibly.

Neck injuries can be very serious, as with a broken neck, where paralysis may ensue from the neck down. More common neck injuries are muscular and may also involve ligaments as with a whiplash injury sustained during a car accident. Muscular and ligament injuries to the neck may cause pain, headaches, numbness, stiffness and maybe even insomnia. Compensation payable for neck injuries caused by negligence can range from a few thousand pounds up to tens of thousands.

If you have been the victim of a road traffic accident and have a neck injury as a result, or think you may have sustained injury during a sport through the negligence of others; discussing making a claim with a solicitor is your best bet. With regards to personal injuries you will need to make a claim within three years of the accident.
