UNINSURED DRIVERS MOTOR INSURERS BUREAU (MIB) CLAIMS

The Motor Insurance Bureau is a private limited company set up by Government and funded through a levy assessed on all motor insurance companies. MIB Untraced & Uninsured
Most claims for compensation to MIB fall under one of two categories :-
Uninsured Driver
If the negligent driver in a motor accident is uninsured, the MIB will adjudicate the claim to fully compensate the victim for all damages and legal costs – subject to a nominal excess deduction – even if the uninsured motorist is unable to personally pay those costs. The MIB will fully compensate the victim and will thereafter pursue recovery from the uninsured motorist. Untraced Driver
If the negligent driver is an untraced or unidentified hit & run criminal, the MIB is authorized to compensate victims for personal injuries and certain other losses. The MIB guidelines allow partial payment of the claimant’s legal costs, the balance of which will be deducted from the award on terms agreed in advance.
